Ethernet CS Twisted-Pair and Thin Coax Cards)
Convenience
- Makes it easy to create, expand, administer, and troubleshoot your network
- Lets you choose the type of cabling media that best suits your
needs
Reliability
- Offers high network reliability because of the point-to-point nature of
10Base-T networks (Ethernet CS Twisted-Pair Card)
Description
The Apple Ethernet CS Cards (Apple Ethernet CS Twisted-Pair Card, Apple
Ethernet CS Thin Coax Card, and Apple Ethernet CS AAUI Card) provide all
Macintosh and Performa models equipped with a communications slot (CS) with the
ideal Ethernet connectivity solution for all of your networking needs.
Although highly cost-effective, the Apple Ethernet CS Twisted-Pair Card
provides exceptional network performance and reliability through its
built-in industry-standard 10Base-T network port. When used in conjunction
with an IEEE-compatible hub, it allows you to create or extend an IEEE 802.3
10Base-T Ethernet network quickly and easily--as well as affordably.
The Apple Ethernet CS Thin Coax Card lets you quickly add users to an existing
thin coax Ethernet network and makes it easy to set up ad hoc work- groups
of up to 30 nodes--without any additional hardware. And when using this card
with Apple's self-terminating thin coax cables, it enables you to maintain
network integrity despite any additions or changes, providing added
flexibility.
Combining affordable high per-formance with flexibility, the Apple Ethernet CS
AAUI Card provides an Apple Ethernet port. By plugging the appropriate Apple
Ethernet Cable sys-tem media adapter into this port, you can adapt to any
standard Ethernet cabling environment: thick coax or other media (such as
fiber-optic cable) Ethernet networks, using the Apple Ethernet AUI adapter; and
thin coax Ethernet networks, using the Apple Thin Coax Transceiver.
These convenient, easy-to-install cards feature uncompromised network
performance and afford the flexibility of connection to any standard Ethernet
media. They support a variety of net-working protocols, including AppleTalk,
TCP/IP, Mac IPX, OSI, and DECnet and offer seamless interoperability in
multi-vendor environments.
